Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET): A journey towards progress
Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology embodies the philosophy of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, who emphasised the necessity of acquiring modern education to live with peace and dignity among the comity of nations. The Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys' Association (AMUOBA) was inspired by the towering personality of the great educationist and social reformer, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan. In recognition of his services particularly for the Muslims of the Indian Sub-continent, AMUOBA established Sir Syed University and named it after him. AMUOBA believed that the establishment of Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology would truly translate Sir Syed Ahmed Khan's educational philosophy into reality.
The vision of the university is to make SSUET a leading innovation provider in education and research with a focus on realising positive economic impact, fostering an entrepreneurial mindset, and promoting a sense of social responsibility as envisioned by Sir Syed Ahmed Khan. The mission of the university is to provide an enabling environment to all stakeholders of SSUET in the pursuit of technological and socio-economic development for the achievement of long-term societal benefits through innovation, research, commercialization, and the sharing of knowledge imbued with a sense of social and moral responsibility aligned with the Aligarh spirit.

The University started functioning in the year 1994 with only two technologies, namely Electronic Engineering and Computer Engineering. Over a period of time, the University expanded, and a number of departments were added in response to emerging market demands.
Sir Syed University has since grown to 16 academic departments offering undergraduate, postgraduate, MS, and PhD programs with more than 7,000 students and around 350 faculty members, including 64 holding PhDs.

Sir Syed University is a member of the EU-funded CENTRAL project. The university is also one of the beneficiaries of the BIOMED 5.0 Project aimed at modernising and transforming Biomedical Engineering education. Sir Syed University achieved a place in the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking. The EU-funded projects facilitated the university in becoming an SDG-based university. The University has established a Content Development Laboratory with a Studio under the CENTRAL project and introduced an Environmental Monitoring Station during this project. Through these projects, the university actively participated in Erasmus+ ICM programs, fostering collaborations with renowned European universities and developing collaborations with international partners such as the Politehnica University of Bucharest and the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca in ongoing projects.
The university's involvement in EU-funded projects has resulted in transformative changes, encompassing academic, research, infrastructure, financial, and global collaboration aspects. These projects have positioned the university as a leading institution with a strong commitment to sustainability, innovation, and academic excellence on both national and international levels.
In pursuit of contributing to Pakistan's digital growth, which is evolving at a rapid pace, Sir Syed University has completely renovated its IT department according to modern requirements and technological advancements such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Cybersecurity, and Data Analysis. It will take the university to a new phase of the modern era.
