KHAR: A child was killed and his brother sustained critical injuries in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion in Loy Kharki area, Mamond tehsil, Bajaur tribal district, on Wednesday.
Local and police sources said that unidentified terrorists had planted an IED at roadside in Loy Kharki area in Mamond tehsil.
They said the IED exploded when two children, who were stated to be brothers, stepped over the explosives.
Farman, 12, and Fawad, 9, sustained serious injuries. Later, Farman succumbed to his injuries while Fawad was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Khar, in precarious condition.
The police have registered a case and started an investigation. Meanwhile, the police defused a bomb in the Tani Farash area in Mamond tehsil.
