Power consumers to pay up to Rs1.90/unit more in June-August
NEPRA authorised collection of an additional Rs46.613 billion from power consumers nationwide, including K-Electric customers
ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has authorised the collection of an additional Rs46.613 billion from power consumers nationwide, including K-Electric customers, as part of the third quarterly tariff adjustment (QTA) for the fiscal year 2024.
This increase, set to be implemented over three months from June to August 2024, includes a per-unit hike of up to Rs1.90. Under this ruling, consumers will see an extra charge of Rs1.90 per unit in their June bills, followed by Rs0.93 per unit in July and August.
Previously, the second-quarter adjustment was Rs2.75 per unit, currently being levied from April to June 2024. Consequently, June will witness a cumulative charge of Rs4.65 per unit due to the overlap between the second and third-quarter adjustments. In July and August, the additional charge will stabilise at Rs0.93 per unit.
However, these supplementary charges will be exempted for lifeline consumers who consume less than 100 units per month. This tariff hike will also extend to K-Electric consumers.
