Four bandits killed in two ‘encounters’
LAHORE : Four bandits were killed in two different alleged encounters here in the provincial metropolis on Saturday. The four dead robbers were wanted by the police in robbery and murder cases.
In the first encounter, which took place in Muslim Town, the deceased robbers were identified as Abdul Qadir and Prince Kashif. Notably, they were implicated in the tragic killing of Prof Farooq Azam during a robbery in Iqbal Town. The professor, scheduled to embark on Hajj the following day, fell victim to tragic incident. Additionally, the assailants had robbed the professor's son of 5,000 riyals before fleeing the scene.
In the second incident, occurring in the Kahna police area, two robbers lost their lives in another alleged encounter. According to police, these individuals were attempting to escape after snatching a motorcycle when they were intercepted by the police. Subsequently, they were fatally shot on the spot.
Trader abducted for ransom recovered: A 50-year-old trader abducted for over Rs1million ransom has been recovered by Shahdara police, City SP Ali Qazi while speaking at a press conference at Lohari Gate here on Saturday. Escorted by Shahdara SHO, the trader, his family and friends said the suspects including two police constables had followed victim Riaz and abducted him after finding an opportunity along with his vehicle. They demanded over Rs1m ransom from the victim's family.
