Cop killed, three wounded in firing at Patel Para eatery
A policeman was killed and three others were wounded when armed assailants opened fire on a eatery near Patel Para in the Jamshed Quarters area.
Armed motorcyclists fired indiscriminately at the Hassan Zai Hotel located near Patel Para within the limits of the Jamshed Quarters police station on the night between Friday and Saturday.
As a result of the firing, 45-year-old police constable Qamar Azad, Arsalan Shakir, 30, Faizan Ahsan, 35, and Tahir, 45 were injured. Following the incident, police and rescue workers reached the scene and transported the casualties to a hospital where Azad succumbed to his injuries.
The slain cop was posted at the Criminal Investigation Agency. Police said two suspects wearing helmets were responsible for the firing who escaped after shooting.
Police have recorded statements of eyewitnesses, who stated that Constable Azad was having a meal with his friends at the eatery when the armed motorcyclists resorted to firing.
Following the incident, police investigators collected evidence and seized over half a dozen empty shells of.30bore and 9mm pistols from the crime scene. Police suspect that the incident could be a result of personal enmity.
