ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan volleyball team has reached Bahrain to figure in the 12-team Asian Zone (AVC) Challenge Cup starting on Sunday.

The team took a Sialkot-Bahrain flight to reach its destination in the wee hours on Saturday. On the opening day on Sunday, Pakistan will kick start their campaign against the powerful Kazakhstan team followed by a second match of Pool B against Thailand on Monday.

Pakistan required victories in both matches to make it to the Super Four Stage where all pool toppers will play against each other. Pakistan team head coach Ruben Wolochin in a media talk ahead of the team’s departure to figure in the AVC Challenges Cup said that the team has all the guts to win the event.

“The way we have beaten the best teams around in recent times, I am hopeful that boys would make the best of the opportunity coming their way by winning the event.

They are in form, playing some brilliant volleyball. Hopefully, they would clear the first hurdle by beating pool teams. Kazakhstan is a strong outfit. Our first match will be really exciting,” he maintained.
