Court orders recovery of 4 missing brothers
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Monday directed the relevant officials to produce the four brothers, who had gone missing three months ago, at the next hearing into the case.
A single bench of Justice Ejaz Anwar heard the writ petition seeking the recovery of four brothers, who were allegedly kidnapped recently from Hayatabad. A citizen Gulzara Alkozi had filed the petition through her lawyer Mohammad Nadir Shah Advocate.
The bench expressed annoyance at the rising incidents of kidnapping, questioning the performance of the police.The bench said the people were being kidnapped while the police force was clueless.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Advocate General Shah Faisal Utmankhel appeared before the bench on behalf of the provincial government.Nadir Shah Advocate appearing for the petitioner told the court that a group of armed men had kidnapped the four brothers at night from Hayatabad.
He recalled that the court had directed the police to recover the kidnapped persons and produce them in the court, but no progress could be made. The lawyer said that three months had passed since the brothers were kidnapped but no progress had been made in the case.
The advocate general told the court that the police had formed a committee to work out the case. He said the police were investigating the case to trace the missing persons.
The court remarked that the state had failed to protect its citizens and said the businesspeople were leaving the country due to lawlessness. The court directed the relevant officials to recover the kidnapped persons and adjourned the hearing till June 10.
