Suspect remanded for three days in minor girl’s rape case
A court on Wednesday granted three-day police remand of a suspect arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl in Orangi Town.
The investigating officer produced Farhan alias Noorul Amin before the judicial magistrate (West) and requested his 14-day remand in police custody for investigation. The victim recorded her statement under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code before the magistrate, picking out the suspect as the one who assaulted her.
The IO stated that an unlicensed weapon was also recovered from the suspect at the time of his arrest. He said on May 13, the suspect took away the girl to a plot and dropped her outside her home after raping her. He was arrested with the help of CCTV footage.
The magistrate, however, handed over the suspect to the police for three days with a direction to the IO to produce him on the completion of his physical remand. An FIR has been lodged at the Pakistan Bazaar police station.
