Senate chairman performs the duties of the acting president in case of president’s leave

ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani will be the acting president of Pakistan as President Asif Ali Zardari left for Dubai on a private visit. According to the Senate Secretariat, the Cabinet Secretariat has issued a formal notification in this regard. According to the Constitution, the Senate chairman performs the duties of the acting president in case of president’s leave, foreign visit or any other unavoidable reason. Deputy Chairman Syedal Khan will be the acting chairman of the Senate.
