RAWALPINDI. The Judicial Magistrate, Islamabad Mureed Abbas has accepted the bail of the former prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan on Monday.
The court accepted the bail of Sardar Tanvir Ilyas following a compromise of both parties. The judge directed former prime minister AJK to submit a surety bond of Rs50,000. He was accused of and arrested for attacking officials of the Centaurus Mall and trying to seize the office and documents. The plea was filed in session court seeking post-arrest bail in the case registered at Margalla Police Station. It pleaded the court to accept the bail plea as an agreement has been finalized between both parties.
The earlier FIR in the case accused the former PM AJK of trying to seize the central offices and important documents of Centaurus Mall. The FIR was filed by Colonel (retd) Tipu Sultan, Deputy Security Incharge of The Centaurus Mall, naming Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, Muhammad Ali, Anil Sultan, Rizwan, and other unknown individuals as accused. Tanveer accompanied by an armed group of 20 to 25 individuals, entered office 1708 of Centaurus Mall by breaking the lock, with intentions to take control of the premises. However, their attempt was repelled by security guards. Sardar Tanveer allegedly issued threats to kill Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan and Sardar Dr Rashid Ilyas Khan, along with their colleagues, the FIR said.
Furthermore, they are accused of thrashing the security officer. Sardar Tanveer is accused of firing at Col (retd) Tipu who narrowly escaped it. Upon receiving information about the incident, law enforcement officials arrived at the scene, the FIR said.
