ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Sardar Tanveer Ilyas has been arrested by the federal capital police late on Sunday night.
Confirming the report, the Margalla police station said that he has been arrested under the first information report lodged with the Margalla police station on April 30, 2024, under sections 452/448/506-II/ 148/ 149 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) on the complaint of Col (R) Tepu Sultan, Chief Security Officer of Sardar Ilyas Khan, the owner of a shopping mall in Islamabad.
The FIR alleged that the accused Sardar Tanveer Ilyas tried to seize the central offices and relevant documents of the shopping centre by using force and shotgun fire during the attack, police said.
Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, Muhammad Ali, Anil Sultan, Rizwan, and other unknown individuals were nominated in the FIR.
The FIR said that Sardar Tanveer, accompanied by an armed group of 20 to 25 individuals, entered the office of the shopping mall by breaking the lock, with intentions to take control of the premises.
However, their attempt was thwarted by the vigilant security guards. Sardar Tanveer allegedly issued threats to kill Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan and Sardar Dr Rashid Ilyas Khan, along with their colleagues.
The FIR added that these individuals subjected the security officer to physical assault, and upon receiving information about the incident, law enforcement officials reached the scene, where Sardar Tanveer allegedly fired at Colonel (R) Tipu Sultan, who narrowly escaped the bullets.
