Police deny arresting cops’ killer
LAHORE:The police have arrested a suspect involved in the killing of policemen and he has revealed that he got the task of killing 6 policemen from Afghanistan, it is learnt.
The Organized Crime Unit, however, denies the arrest. According to police sources requesting anonymity, Faizan Butt, the accused involved in the killing of officials, was arrested from Al-Falah Town. The accused has so far confessed to killing three police officials.
The accused resented that he was involved in a fake case of explosives. The suspect further told investigators that he met Rauf Gujjar of banned Lashkar Jhangvi in the jail. Rauf Gujjar managed his bail by paying a bribe of Rs600,000.
Sources quote the accused as saying that after his release, he was sent to Khorasan region of Afghanistan. Police sources say the accused met a person named Asim in Afghanistan who gave him the task of killing the six policemen and promised him a job in Afghanistan on completion of the task.
The accused said that he acted alone in the killing and his brother had nothing to do with it. The accused said he had snatched the motorcycle from Shadbagh Lahore, changed its number and targeted the police personnel. On the other hand, the spokesman of Organized Crime Unit Lahore has denied any such of arrest of target killer.
DIG (OCU) Imran Kishor said that there is no truth in the news about the arrest of the target killer. The DIG said the OCU Lahore and CTD are jointly conducting a joint operation to arrest the accused, adding the news of the arrest of the accused is baseless. All resources are being used to arrest the accused and various intelligence agencies, including the CTD, are engaged in intelligence-based operations to arrest the accused, the DIG added.
