Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori has announced the launch of a special initiative under the aegis of the Governor House to provide livelihood opportunities to jobless people from deprived families in the province.
Speaking at a press conference at the Governor House on Friday, he said that under his special initiative, a sum between Rs100,000 and Rs10 million would be given to jobless people to help them start a business.
The governor advised the unemployed people to formally submit their business proposals to the Governor House to get this grant. He said the grant would be given to the jobless people without any discrimination.
A team of experts would be hired to evaluate the proposals submitted to the Governor House to select the winners of his grant on a meritorious basis, Tessori announced. He said philanthropists, businessmen and charities would support his special assistance drive and a fund had already been established to provide these grants.
The governor said he wanted the jobless people to generate employment opportunities for others through entrepreneurship. To a question, he said that all his welfare initiatives had the backing of the prime minister.
He said his special mass IT training programme would be expanded to six districts of Sindh after its successful execution in Karachi. He The University of Karachi would provide certification to the participants of the IT training courses conducted at the Governor House, Tessori said.
