MULTAN: Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Fawad Chaudhry has said 40 cases were registered against him in various police stations of Punjab.

Talking to journalists here on Tuesday on his arrival at Multan district courts to appear before a court for the grant of interim bail, he said cases were also registered against him in Multan while he did not participate in a single protest in Multan.

All cases were based on frivolous testimonies. Court proceedings in Pakistan are becoming a joke around the world. The present was a Form 47 government, he said, adding that this government would not last long.

He said if Maulana Fazlur Rehman wanted, the government would end any time. Otherwise, it will end due to the economic crisis.

If the PTI joins Fazl, the government cannot run even for a day. When the Constitution in the country is restored to its original state, the country will develop. Fawad appeared in different courts for bail in five cases.

He is named in three cases of the Cantt police station, one case each of the Jalilabad police station and the Old Kotwali. Interim bail was granted to him till May 15 in all the five cases.

He has been booked under charges of inciting people for arson and making inflammatory speeches.

The cases include FIR No 870/23 of the Cantonment police station. The case is under trial in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Saira Noreen. FIR No 868/23 was registered by the Multan Cantonment police station and the case is also being heard by Saira Noreen. FIR No 869/23 registered with the Multan Cantonment police is under trial with Saira Noreen.

FIR No 350/23 was registered by the Jalilabad police and is under trial with ASJ Rehmat and FIR No 478/23 registered with the Old Kotwali police station is under trial with ASJ Muhammad Saeed Rafiq.
