Riphah signs MoU to offer scholarships to Palestinian students
Islamabad:Riphah International University took yet another step towards academic excellence and providing quality education beyond borders by establishing a significant collaboration with the Embassy of the State of Palestine and the AlKhidmat Foundation (AKF), aimed at fostering education and empowerment opportunities for Palestinian students, says a press release.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony took place at Riphah International University, Gulberg Greens Campus.
Ahmed Jawad A A. Rabei, ambassador of the State of Palestine, Vice Chancellor Riphah International University Prof. Dr. Anis Ahmed, Dr. Hafeez ur Rehman President Al-Khidmat Foundation signed the documents representing all members of this Memorandum of Understanding.
As part of this historic agreement, Riphah International University will extend its support by offering 100 fully funded scholarships to Palestinian students, thereby providing them with access to quality education and empowering them to shape a brighter future for themselves and their communities. The scholarships, provided by Riphah International University, will cover the academic costs associated with pursuing higher education at the University.
Additionally, the AlKhidmat Foundation has agreed to cover boarding and lodging expenses for the Palestinian students throughout their study period in Pakistan and has allocated an amount of Rs240 million for the purpose.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by dignitaries including Ambassador Ahmed Jawad A. A. Rabei, Chancellor Riphah International University Hassan Muhammad Khan, Dr. Hafeez ur Rehman President, Al-Khidmat Foundation, and members of the Board of Governors and Board of Trustees Riphah International University.
On this occasion, ambassador of Palestine thanked the Riphah’s chancellor and vice chancellor for their support for the people of Palestine. He also said that this event sends a message to the Palestinian people that they are not alone in this crucial time. Representatives from the Embassy of Palestine were also present to commemorate this milestone in educational diplomacy. The collaboration is a collective effort to promote access to education, foster cross-cultural understanding, and serve humanity on a global scale.
