LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to deploy 4,550 personnel of Pak Army and Rangers in 18 districts for holding by-elections peacefully.

Two companies of army and Rangers each will be deployed in Lahore on April 21 and April 22 during the by-elections, while two companies of army and Rangers in Sheikhupura; three companies each of army and Rangers in Gujrat and Narowal; two companies of army and one company of Rangers in Wazirabad; one company of army and two companies of Rangers in Bhakkar; two companies of army and four companies of Rangers will be deployed in D.G.Khan

In this regard, the interior ministry of Punjab has sent a requisition to Civil Armed Forces Wing of federal interior ministry. The requisition for deploying armed forces has been sent under Section 7(B) of Pakistan Rangers Ordinance and under Section 7 Anti-Terrorism Act 1997.
