LAHORE:The first Home-Based Workers (HBW) Union in Punjab has been registered on Monday marking a significant moment in the pursuit of gender equality in Pakistan.
The Trade Union (TU) women leaders of Pakistan Workers Federation (PWF) and women organisations across the country celebrated this notable development. This monumental achievement is considered as a testament to years of tireless efforts by organisations such as the All Pakistan Women's Association (APWA), Pakistan Workers Federation (PWF) and the support of the Directorate General of Labour.
DG Labour Syeda Kulsoom Hai demonstrated the commitment of the Labour Department to support the empowerment of women in the workforce. Her dedication and leadership have played a pivotal role in facilitating the registration of the first Punjab HBW Union, marking a significant milestone in the journey towards gender equality and fair labour practices.
The president of HBW Union Punjab Rabia expressed gratitude for the collective efforts of APWA, PWF, and the Labour Department. She acknowledged the support and dedication and collaborative spirit that played a key role in the registration of the HBW Union.
