Eid travellers upset as trains’ booking completes

LAHORE: Eid travellers got frustrated when they came to know that 100 percent tickets’ booking for trains heading to Karachi and Quetta is complete till Eid on Thursday.

According to sources, four special trains have also been run by Pakistan Railways (PR) for the convenience of passengers and 100 percent ticket booking of Eid special trains coming from Karachi to Lahore is also over.

The PR sources said only 70 percent booking of Eid special train to Peshawar from Quetta has been completed.According to PR administration’s Eid special trains schedule, the first Eid special train will depart from Karachi on April 7 at 6:10 pm and it will reach Peshawar cantonment at 1:15 pm the next day.

The second Eid special train will leave Quetta for Rawalpindi at 10am on April 7 and it will reach Rawalpindi at 4:15am the next day. The third Eid special train will depart from Karachi to Lahore at 9pm on April 8 and it will reach Lahore at 5:55pm the next day.

Pakistan Railways has purchased 1,542,000 litre diesel from PSO especially for Eid trains to ward any oil crisis off.According to PR spokesperson, the railways authorities concerned have issued a cheque of over Rs954 million to the State Bank of Pakistan.

The PR has also transferred salaries of the employees to banks.Now with the addition of 1,542,000 litre diesel, it will be sufficient for trains for more than 10 days as daily consumption of diesel in PR system is normally 370,000 litre.CEO Aamir Baloch said extra coaches would also be attached with four passenger trains.
