In a bid to rid the city of illegal constructions, a series of extensive operations have been launched by the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) under the special directives of provincial minister for local government Saeed Ghani.
Officials said on Wednesday that demolition squads, under the guidance of Director General SBCA Abdul Rasheed Solangi, had initiated a massive campaign targeting residential plots and other illegal constructions in various districts of the city.
As part of this initiative, the demolition squads have razed portions of residential plots and other illegal constructions in different areas of the city, including Block 2, Plot No. 2C 10/4, Block 3, Plot No. 3F in Nazimabad, Plot No. 450 and Plot No. 232/5 in Jamshed Town, and Block H, Plot No. A 776 in North Nazimabad.
On Wednesday, the demolition operations were carried out under the supervision of deputy and assistant directors, along with demolition officers, while the SBCA force accompanied them during the process.
Ghani instructed Solangi to ensure the eradication of all types of illegal constructions from the city and to take strict action against SBCA officers involved in illegal constructions. He also told him to conduct surprise visits to various areas of the city to assess the legality of buildings being constructed. He reiterated his commitment to cleanse the Karachi city from all forms of illegal constructions.
