PESHAWAR: A Chinese company working on the Tarbela-5th Extension Hydropower Project in Haripur said on Thursday the work on the scheme would resume soon.
The Power Construction Corporation China Ltd (PCCCL) in its Office Order issued on Tuesday announced the suspension of work and laying off workers after the suicide attack in Bisham that had left five Chinese nationals and a Pakistani dead. The power company’s decision was widely reported by the mainstream media.
Clarifying the situation, a statement by the company said the recent office order, issued by the administration, was misunderstood by some staff members with the “accidental” use of the word lay-off.
It further added that the suspension of work due to security reasons was a small one and that work would resume shortly. The statement said no staff member had been permanently removed from work and they would work according to the labour laws.
