Aimal Wali vows to raise voice for oppressed people in Senate
PESHAWAR: The provincial president of Awami National Party, Aimal Wali Khan, has said he will raise his voice for all oppressed people, including Pakhtuns and Baloch, in the Upper House of the Parliament.
In his message on social media and press statement to the media on Thursday, he thanked the ANP Balochistan chapter, Pakistan People’s Party and President Asif Ali Zardari for nominating him as a joint candidate for Senate from Balochistan Assembly from where was elected unopposed as a senator on Wednesday.
“Those who had tried to suppress my voice and blocked my way to the Parliament would be disappointed as I would now raise my voice in the Senate for the oppressed and marginalized segments of the society,” he said and advised his opponents to gather the courage to listen to him.
Aimal Wali Khan said he would not deviate from the principled stand of his ancestors and party leadership for true democracy, the supremacy of the parliament, provincial rights, and peace in the country.
“As I have been elected unopposed from the Balochistan Assembly, I thank all political parties, members of the provincial assembly and people of Balochistan for electing me to the Senate,” he added.
Aimal Wali, the grandson of late Khan Abdul Wali Khan, entered electoral politics in the 2018 general elections when he vied for the KP Assembly seat from his native Charsadda district but lost to the PTI candidate by a big margin.
He was a joint candidate of the Pakistan Democratic Movement in the 2022 by-election against PTI chief and former prime minister Imran Khan from Charsadda but lost.In the February 8 polls, Aimal lost to PTI candidate Fazal Mohammad Khan for the NA-24 Charsadda National Assembly seat.
