LAHORE: Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has suggested international standards, customs and traditions on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, which will curb free movement of terrorists.
In a tweet, the federal minister said following an escalation in the acts of terrorism in Pakistan, there was a dire need to revamp the border security. “The hub of terrorists hitting Pakistan is in Afghanistan and despite repeated efforts, Kabul is not doing anything in this regard,” he said, adding the hideouts of terrorists were in the knowledge of Kabul but still the terrorists were operating from Afghanistan freely.
In this case when Pakistan was not getting any cooperation from Afghanistan, Pakistan would have to implement the international standards of border operations on this side of the country, he said. In this way, both the countries can become good neighbours and border traffic can be done through proper visa and passport. This will also end the free movement of terrorists, he maintained.
