PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa minister for higher education, archives and libraries Meena Khan on Tuesday said that the government was committed to introducing reforms in the education system of the province.
“Reforms in the education system are crucial to cope with the future challenges,” he told a meeting of the officials of the Education Department here.
Earlier, the provincial minister was given a detailed presentation on Malakand, Hazara and South regions. It was informed that the directorates were managing the affairs of 320 colleges, including 172 for male and 148 for female. About 238 general colleges offering BS programmes in various disciplines, 20298 students enrolled in the Associate Degree Programme in 113 colleges.
The officials said 41 new colleges in settled areas 10 in newly merged districts were functionalized during the 2022-23 financial year.
The construction work on 59 boys and girls institutions in settled districts and 17 in merged areas are in progress and these would be completed by June 2024 subject to release of funds, they added.
