Man commits suicide over failure to reconcile with wife

LAHORE: A 55-year-old man on Monday committed suicide by shooting himself over a failure to reconcile with his angry wife in Nawab Town.

Wife of Attique-ul-Rehman had a dispute with him. She left his house and started living at her parents’ house in Nawab Town. He came to his in-laws and tried to reconcile with her but failed. He was so frustrated over it that he shot himself dead. Police removed the body to morgue for autopsy and were investigating the matter further.

Two suspected robbers killed in encounter

Two suspected robbers were killed in an alleged police encounter in Sattokatla here on Monday. Police received a call that four suspected robbers were looting citizens in Nawab Town. A team responded to the call. On seeing police, the suspects started fleeing. When they were intercepted in Nawab Town, they resorted to firing.

In exchange of fire, two the robbers receives serious injuries and died. They have been identified as Basharat Mushtaq of Nankana Sahib and Ali Zeb of Lahore. Their bodies have been moved to morgue for autopsy. Police said that they were investigating the matter.

Woman among two drug peddlers arrested

Two members of a drug smuggling gang involved in peddling drugs using children have been arrested by Kot Lakhpat police. The arrested suspects have been identified as Ayesha and Shabana.

Over 1100 grams of charas have been recovered from their custody. The suspects would pack drugs in small packets of 20 to 30 grams. The woman used children to supply drug to people at their targets after taking orders.

Six bike thieves held Sundar police arrested six members of a bike lifting gang.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Farooq, Atif, Ehtasham, Muhammad Shafiq, Arfan and Binyamin. Police recovered six bikes, two pistols, a 12-bore riffle, cash and valuables from their custody. The suspects would conduct crimes in Chung, Sundar and Manga areas. Many cases have been traced to them.

Nine dead in road accidents in 24 hours

The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,207 road traffic accidents in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these accidents, nine people died, whereas 1,320 were injured. Out of these, 627 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 693 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.
