When Jaya was told only her prayers could bring ‘dead’ Amitabh back to life
Jaya, on the other hand, shared her reaction when she was informed about Amitabh’s condition by her brother-in-law
KARACHI: Famous Indian actor 81-year-old Amitabh Bachchan faced health problems throughout his life, according to Indian media.
The actor apparently rubbished news about his health problems, some claimed that he had undergone angioplasty. However, concerns about his health are correct. In 1982, in a dangerous accident on the set of the film ‘Quli’, he suffered an abdominal injury and suffered several health problems. On August 2, 1982, Amitabh Bachchan was filming a fight scene with actor Puneet Asar on the Bangalore University campus for the film Qli when he took a wrong jump, causing severe abdominal injuries, massive internal haemorrhage and bleeding.
Yadsamy Grewal once asked Amitabh about this in his show. He revealed, “I was in a coma. I had a ruptured intestine in the accident and then had surgery where I couldn’t come out of anesthesia for 12-14 hours. By the time they realized it was all over as there was hardly any pulse, the BP had dropped to almost zero.”
Jaya, on the other hand, shared her reaction when she was informed about Amitabh’s condition by her brother-in-law. She said, “I had a prayer book in my hand. Dr Dastur passed by and said, only your prayers will work. They were pumping his heart; they were giving him injections. And when they gave up, I saw his leg moving, and I said, he’s moving and then he came back to life.” After the accident, there were about 200 blood donors and 60 blood transfusions. The bottles were administered to Amitabh, one of the blood donors had the hepatitis B virus that entered his body. He continued to function normally till the year 2000 and during a normal medical check-up about 18 years after the accident, he was told that the liver was affected and 75pc of the liver had been lost.
In 2015, he made a shocking revelation that he was living on only 25 percent of his liver, having lost the other 75 percent to the deadly hepatitis B virus.
In 2005, he underwent bowel surgery in Mumbai. In 2008, he was admitted to the hospital after complaining of stomach pain, and in February 2012, he underwent an operation in a hospital in Mumbai. In March 2018, he was busy shooting for ‘Thugs of Hindustan’ in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, when he fell seriously ill. He was shifted to Mumbai.
In 2023, Amitabh shared on his blog that he had injured his rib cartilage. He wrote that during the shoot of Project KK in Hyderabad, during an action shot, he got injured, canceled the shoot. In July 2020, Amitabh had Covid-19 and was admitted to Nanavati Hospital’s isolation unit. According to reports, Amitabh was also diagnosed with myasthenia gravis.
