Federal climate change secretary made Sindh chief secretary
Syed Asif Hyder Shah, who was earlier serving in the federal government, has been posted as the new Sindh chief secretary by the Centre.
ISLAMABAD: Now that the new governments have fully assumed charge in the Centre and the provinces after last month’s general elections, the federal bureaucracy has undergone a major reshuffle.
A grade-22 civil servant, Syed Asif Hyder Shah, who was earlier serving in the federal government, has been posted as the new Sindh chief secretary by the Centre.
The new CS is the provincial chief minister’s brother-in-law. He is replacing Dr Fakhre Alam Irfan, who has been asked to report to the Establishment Division.
Before his posting as the CS, Shah had been serving as secretary of the Ministry of Climate Change & Environmental Coordination. He had joined the Civil Service of Pakistan in 1993.
He has served as the commissioner of Hyderabad as well as of Karachi, as the special secretary of the Cabinet Division, and as the secretary of the National Heritage & Culture Division as well as of the Power Division. He has a degree in civil engineering.
Shah did his MBA from the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi, and his master’s from the Harvard University, USA. He completed his fellowships at the Harvard University and the Stanford University.
Several quarters concerned have praised the earlier work of the new Sindh CS while he had served as the commissioner of Karachi and as the commissioner of Hyderabad.
The Centre has posted Major General Abdul Moeed, Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military), as the director general of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF). He will replace Major General Muhammad Aneeq-ur-Rehman. His appointment is a secondment.
Director of the information ministry, Muhammad Aamir Raza, who is a grade-19 officer of the Information Group, has been posted as the deputy secretary of the Federal Information Ministry.
Muntazir Ali Akbar, who is a grade-19 officer of the Secretariat Group and awaiting posting at the Establishment Division, has been posted as the deputy secretary of the Interior Division.
Audit Officer, Directorate General Audit, Social Safety Nets, Auditor General Office, Ali Hussain, has been transferred and made a section officer at the Power Division. Section officer at the Inter-Provincial Coordination Division, Adnan Manzoor Ahmed, has been directed to report to the Establishment Division.
The deputation period of three grade-18 officers of the Office Management Group posted at the Naya Pakistan Housing Authority has been extended by one year. These officials are Dr Amin Khan, Shahid Ahmed and Hafiz Shehzad Masood.
The posting of Accounts Officer Shahid Hassan at the Aviation Division as a section officer has been extended by six months. The Establishment Division has issued formal notifications for these transfers and postings.
