Illegal hoardings, billboards to be removed
LAHORE: Traffic Engineering and Planning Agency (Tepa) will start a campaign against illegal billboards installed on roads.
The decision was taken by LDA DG who issued necessary directions to Tepa regarding the improvement of traffic flow and traffic engineering in the city. Chief Engineer Tepa Iqrar Hussain and Director of Enforcement and Project Director participated in the meeting held on Sunday.
Director General Tahir Farooq directed that unnecessary boards should be removed from roads and the boards installed without approval should also be removed. Strict enforcement of parking rules should be ensured. Director General Tahir Farooq said that the enforcement wing of LDA and Tepa should be made more active and fully operational. LDA Tepa Enforcement Wing should ensure indiscriminate action against violators.
Tahir Farooq said that according to the directions of the CM, patchwork and repair work should be completed on the roads. He directed TEPA to complete a survey of important roads and submit the report soon. He stressed that there will be no compromise on the quality of work in the improvement of U-turns, and installation of reflectors. The DG directed that the debris of under-construction buildings in the city should not be opened without SOPs and Tepa and Town Planning should ensure joint actions in this regard. Tepa should keep the beauty of the city in consideration while doing the measures of the traffic flow in city, he said and added that steps should be taken for the convenience of the citizens as per the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. While giving a briefing, Chief Engineer Tepa said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the work of filling the path holes in 18 important highways was going on in the first phase.
No compromise on quality, speed of work
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq visited various mega development projects in the city on Sunday. He visited the Ravi Bridge expansion project where the project director and contractor briefed him. They told him that 57 girders of the Ravi Bridge extension project have been prepared, 44 piles out of 52 have been completed while 33 pillars have been completed. The DG was told that the work on Ravi River was being done in two shifts day and night. DG Tahir Farooq directed that there should be no compromise on the quality and speed of work. Tahir Farooq said that the public facility project should be completed soon.
Earlier, he visited the Controlled Access Corridor and made a detailed review of the ongoing construction work on Package 2 Babu Sabu to Sagian. Project Director, Contractor and Nespak team briefed him. Asphalt work on Package 2 will be completed in next few days and installation of stitch beam of package 2 and work on service road was going on fast.
Director General Tahir Farooq also reviewed the ongoing work on the service road of Package One Sagian to Niazi Interchange.
