IMF wards

With yet another International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan looming, one must ask whether this chronic reliance on the multilateral lender offers a viable solution to the country’s prolonged economic crisis. Pakistan got its first IMF loan in the 1950s. If this was a workable solution we would not still be dependent on the IMF over six decades later.

The country will not be able to solve its financial woes until it works on a better economic policy. This can be done by improving the industrial sector and focusing on utilizing indigenous natural resources such as minerals. It is high time the newly elected government learned from the mistakes of the past and put the country on the path to financial self-sufficiency.
