Grand alliance to be formed to protest ‘rigging’ in elections: PTI
PTI said that it would make a grand alliance to protest against alleged rigging in the General Elections 2024 held on February 8
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has said that it would make a grand alliance to protest against alleged rigging in the General Elections 2024 held on February 8.
Speaking to the media outside the Adiala Jail on Thursday, PTI leader Omar Ayub Khan said that party leaders had been denied access to party founder Imran Khan for a scheduled meeting in violation of court orders.
He specifically named jail superintendent Asad Warraich as the person who had denied him access. Omar said that there can be no rule of law in a country where a public servant considers himself above court orders.
The PTI leader questioned Shehbaz Sharif’s claims of rule of law in the National Assembly if he was being denied a meeting with his leader.
Omar also said that they would table a resolution in the National Assembly over the issue.
Another PTI leader Asad Qaiser told the media that the meeting being denied was part of a series of tactics to spread disappointment in PTI ranks. He also said the PTI would form a ‘grand alliance’ with other parties to protest against “rigging” in the elections.
