Three people were fatally shot in two separate incidents of firing in the Shah Latif neighbourhood on Thursday.
Police reported that the shooting incidents occurred at two locations within the jurisdiction of Shah Latif Town police station. Two individuals were targeted at one location, while another person was targeted at the second location. The first incident resulted in the deaths of two individuals near Saleh Muhammad Goth, while the second incident occurred near Shah Latif Town, claiming another life.
Two individuals sustained serious injuries in the firing incident at Saleh Muhammad Goth and succumbed to their injuries while being transported to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. The deceased were identified as Laddu, son of Veeru, and Dilwar, son of Ishaq, both residents of Lashari Goth. The police suspected the victims, who were known drug addicts, to had been involved in criminal activities, indicating a possible motive related to personal enmity. Empty shells of 9mm and 30-bore pistols were recovered from the scene.
According to Duty Officer ASI Naik Zada, the initial gunfire occurred in the Gharibabad area of Malir, targeting a young man outside his house. Subsequently, the police received information about two bodies at the second location. The third deceased person was identified as Habibullah, who sustained four gunshot wounds. Habib’s uncle, speaking to the media, alleged drug peddlers for the killing, citing past incidents where his nephews were also killed by drug dealers. He claimed that the perpetrators had threatened the victims after their release from jail a few days prior to the incident.
The police stated that both incidents appeared to be fueled by personal enmities. Cases have been registered, and further investigation is underway.
