Excise Dept expedites tax collection
LAHORE: The Excise and Taxation Department of Punjab has expedited the collection of taxes and arears in the final months of the fiscal year.
According to spokesperson, Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Punjab Director General M Ali chaired a meeting with directors of Regions A, B, C, and D in Lahore, where a detailed review of performance was conducted.
The DG commended the officers for excelling in their performance while admonishing underperformers to ensure timely completion of their targets. According to reports presented by the directors, Excise Inspectors Hanan Manzoor and Usman Mohsin from Zone 10 and M Nawaz from Zone 12 remained at the top of the list with 91% recovery of the designated target.
In Zone 10, Imtiaz Ahmed secured second place with 87% collection, followed by Samad Hussain with 86% recovery. Among the inspectors with the poorest performance, Abrar Ahmed from Zone 18 achieved 42%, Shaukat Ali from Zone 18 attained 44%, Badar Iqbal from Zone 13 reached 46%, and Nasrat from Zone 18 has achieved 47% recovery so far.
Similarly, ETOs from Zones 3, 10, and 12 of Region A showed the best performance, while ETOs from Zones 13, 16, and 18 exhibited the worst performance. In Region B, ETOs Aftab Rahim, Ikram-ul-Haq, Zaka-ur-Rehman, and Malik Fiaz showed commendable performance, while Waseem Butt demonstrated poor performance.
