GWADAR: Low-lying areas of Gwadar have been flooded and electricity system affected by more than 16 hours of continuous rain, sources said on Tuesday.

They said as the rain continues intermittently, the roads have been flooded and water has entered houses and shops. Some houses have collapsed and people forced to relocate.

According to the Sarabandan UC chairman, many boats parked in the harbour collided with each other and were damaged due to strong winds.

The head of Haq Do Tehreek Balochistan’s newly elected MPA, Maulana Hidayatur Rehman Baloch, said the entire Gwadar city had been submerged in rainwater. He blamed corruption and commission-grabbing responsible for the misery of people and demanded that emergency should be imposed in Gwadar immediately.

Senator Kauda Babar said the entire Gwadar city was submerged and NDMA and PDMA should come forward. The Balochistan government should declare Gwadar a disaster area, he added.
