Dr Zabta Khan Shinwari made Fuuast VC
President Dr Arif Alvi has appointed Dr Zabta Khan Shinwari as the vice chancellor of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences and Technology (Fuuast) for five years.
Two days ago, the president had interviewed Dr Bakht Jahan, Dr Muhammad Ali Shah and Dr Zabta Shinwari and approved the appointment of Dr Zabta Khan Shinwari as VC. Dr Shinwari, while talking to The News on Tuesday, said the vice chancellor’s office of the Federal Urdu University would not be shifted to Islamabad.
The Urdu University is the identity of Karachi, while Karachi is the centre of Urdu. We will also establish campuses of Urdu University in Peshawar, Quetta and Lahore and promote Urdu language, he said.
Dr Shinwari said his first priority is to get Urdu University out of the financial crisis and ensure timely payment of salaries and pensions, while the second priority is to promote quality education in the university. He said he wants to take everyone together and his doors are open for everybody.
