10-year-old girl survives rape attempt

LAHORE: A 10-year-old girl has survived a rape attempt in Liaqatabad. Reportedly, the victim was visiting a nearby shop to buy a toy when the suspect lured her and attempted to rape the victim. When the girl cried for help, the suspect fled from the scene. Police registered a case and arrested the suspect within four hours of the incident. The arrested suspect was identified as Mukhtiar.

Constable dies in road accident

A 35-year-old police constable has died in a road accident in Muslim Town. The victim Mehmood Umar was going somewhere on a bike. As he reached near Muslim Town bridge, his bike collided with a rickshaw and the victim received injuries and died. His body was moved to morgue. Police said that they were investigating the matter further.

Four injured in roof collapse incident

At least four persons including a minor girl were injured in an incident of roof collapse in Hanjarwal. The victims were inside the room of a house situated at Multan Road when suddenly, the roof collapsed. Nearby people called the Rescue teams which removed the debris, evacuated the victims and shifted them to a nearby hospital. The rescuers faced difficulties in launching their rescue operation. They had to use live locators to spot the victims. Two of the victims were said to be in a critical condition.

Two members of snatchers gang held

Sanda Police have arrested two members of a snatchers gang. The arrested suspects were identified as Bilal and Asim. At least Rs270,000 cash, two pistols, bullets, bikes, three mobile phones and cash were recovered from their custody. The suspects were involved in many incidents of bike lifting, snatching and robbery. As many as 15 cases have been traced to them.

Two arrested for selling kites online

Raiwind Police have arrested two suspects involved in online selling of kites. The arrested suspects were identified as Atif Hussain and M Hassan Bhatti. As many as 500 kites and chemical strings were recovered from their custody. They would place orders on social media and smuggle the kites in different parts of the city.

Road accidents

At least six people died, whereas 1,172 were injured in 1,125 road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Out of these, 530 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 642 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.

Motorbikes were involved in majority (72%) road accidents. The statistics show that 272 road accidents were reported in Lahore which affected 281 persons placing the provincial capital at top of the list followed by 91 Faisalabad in with 103 victims and at third Multan with 77 road accidents and 71 victims.
