Pindi RPO departs for UAE

LAHORE: Rawalpindi Regional Police Officer (RPO) Syed Khurram Ali has left for UAE on 14-day leave on Saturday, a day after ex-Pindi commissioner Liaquat Ali Chattha had brought rigging allegations against the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), and other officials.

On the matter of RPO Rawalpindi’s ex-Pakistan leave, spokesman Punjab Police has said that Regional Police Officer Rawalpindi Syed Khurram Ali applied for a 14-day abroad leave on 17th January, 2024 before the elections and a formal summary in this regard was sent to the Chief Minister Punjab Office on 30th January. He said that Punjab government had approved the 14-day leave of Regional Police Officer Rawalpindi as per the summary recommendations.

Meanwhile, on the instructions of Inspector General Police (IGP) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, the crackdown of the Punjab Police is continue to arrest the dangerous proclaimed offenders (POs) who are absconding abroad, in continuation of which, Punjab Police has achieved another big success and has arrested Tayyab Ijaz from UAE, the dangerous shooter wanted in more than 6 cases of murder.

The team of Punjab Police Special Operation Cell has reached back Pakistan after extraditing Tayyab Ijaz from UAE on Sunday evening. Special Operation Cell team traced the dangerous shooter Tayyab Ijaz, arrested him from Dubai and transferred him back to Pakistan through the Interpol.

Arrested proclaimed offender Tayyab Ijaz was wanted by the Gujranwala police in more than 6 murder cases in different police stations.

Spokesman Punjab Police said that Tayyab Ijaz, dangerous shooter, had absconded abroad after several murders and is finally arrested.

With the arrest of Tayyab Ijaz, the total number of proclaimed offenders arrested from abroad this year has reached to 13.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar appreciated the team of Special Operation Cell Gujranwala arresting the dangerous shooter. IGP Punjab directed that the criminal should be severely punished from the court by completing the legal proceedings soon.

Dr. Usman Anwar said that coordination with Interpol and FIA should be made more effective to arrest more dangerous criminals residing abroad.
