CM deplores Nishtar Hospital’s condition

MULTAN/ LAHORE:Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has deplored the pathetic condition of the Nishtar Hospital, Multan.

Talking to journalists during a visit to the hospital on Wednesday night, he said the hospital condition showed that it belonged to the most backward area. He said that after renovation, the Nishtar Hospital Phase-I would become more beautiful than any other private hospital. The phase-I work would be completed at a cost of Rs 3.5 billion. He said 150,000 square feet had been decorated while work was underway to adorn 200,000 square feet more. The caretaker government completed upgradation of Multan Children’s Complex, Nishtar Phase-II, Multan Institute of Cardiology and DHQ South City Hospital in a short span of one year.

Opens upgraded wards at SZH in Rahim Yar Khan

Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, along with the officers, paid a visit to Rahim Yar Khan on Wednesday to inaugurate the upgraded OPD, Cardiology Unit and Gynae Unit at the Shaikh Zayed Hospital.

The chief minister was told that the Shaikh Zayed Hospital was upgraded in a record time frame of 80 days and the quality of facilities in the hospital are better than the facilities being provided in the private hospitals of Lahore.

Mohsin Naqvi visited the OPD, Cardiology and Gynae Ward and commended the C&W team in carrying out the assigned task within the stipulated timeline. The doctors and nurses expressed their complete satisfaction over the upgradation and provision of medical facilities in the hospital.

Secretary health gave a briefing with regard to undertaking steps for the provision of treatment facilities while secretary C&W gave a briefing about the upgradation project. The CM while talking to the media said that he felt over pleased to witness such an excellent hospital in Rahim Yar Khan, adding that the doctors and nurses should take care of the hospital and the patients as well. It is also the right of the citizens living in the far-flung areas of Rahim Yar Khan to avail quality treatment facilities.

He said holding election was the duty of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and we provided complete assistance in this regard. The Punjab government had handed over the whole staff to ECP and they used their full authority in this regard. The next government will undertake work on the remaining projects, he added. P&D Board Chairman, Deputy Commissioner, DPO, MS Shaikh Zayed Hospital and officials concerned were also present on the occasion.

CM orders foolproof security for PSL-9 matches

Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed the officials concerned to undertake excellent arrangements to ensure foolproof security for PSL-9 matches and for the facilitation of cricket lovers. The PSL-9 matches are going to start from February 17.

While presiding over a special meeting, Naqvi directed the officials concerned to implement the formulated security plan in its true spirit for the cricket matches to be played in Rawalpindi, Multan and Lahore.

It was informed during the briefing that a security plan has been chalked out and more than 16,000 police personnel will perform security duties during the PSL matches. CM directed to carry out effective management to maintain traffic flow during the matches adding that the traffic closure time should be minimised keeping in view facilitation of the people. He directed to timely impart awareness to the citizens about the alternate routes through the media.

Chief Secretary, IG Police, Secretary (Home), Secretary C&W, Commissioner Lahore, CCPO, COO PCB, Deputy Commissioner, DIG Operations, CTO and officials concerned attended the meeting. Commissioners of Rawalpindi and Multan, RPOs, CPOs, Deputy Commissioners participated in the meeting via a video link.
