KHAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-backed candidates for PK-20 and PK-21 were declared successful after a recount of votes in both the constituencies in Bajaur tribal district on Tuesday.
According to the final official results after recounting of votes, PTI-backed independent candidates Anwar Zeb Khan and Engr Ajmal Khan were declared winners on PK-20 and PK-21 with 12,917 and 16,712 votes, respectively.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz candidate Shahbuddin Khan and Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Maulana Waheed Gul were declared runners up with 6,969 and 6,909 votes on PK-20
Similarly, JI candidate Sardar Khan was declared runner up on PK-21 with 8,128 votes.
Earlier, the RO, according to their Forms-45, had declared winners the losing candidates, which forced the PTI workers and supporters to stage a protest sit-in outside the Civil Colony for three days.
Later, former KP governor Shaukatullah Khan convinced the protesters to end the sit-in and adopt a legal course for their rights.
He told the PTI leaders that the RO would not release Form-47 and Form-49 on the two constituencies until their demands met.
