Daniyal Nazeer Mir Bahar has been booked on a charge of killing 17-year-old Ali Keerio, son of District and Sessions Judge (South) Javaid Ahmed Keerio, at his residence in DHA, Phase-V.

On Saturday, the investigating officer produced the suspect before the judicial magistrate (South) and requested his physical remand for interrogation. He stated that the suspect is required to be questioned about the crime, for which his custody is needed.

The suspect stated in court that he did not intentionally fire the weapon; rather, it went off accidentally.

The magistrate handed over the custody of the suspect to the IO on five-day physical remand with a direction to produce him on the completion of the remand.

An FIR has been lodged under Section 302 (murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) at the Darakhshan police station on the complaint of the victim’s cousin, Shahbaz Alam.

The complainant stated that on Thursday night, he was at his uncle’s residence at the Judges Apartments in Clifton where a person, Ali Qasim, came and informed him that Ali Keerio who had gone to the house of Daniyal along with him in DHA had been shot by Daniyal after an exchange of harsh words.

“After shooting, Daniyal and his brother Ahmer put Ali Keerio into my car and took him to the South City Hospital from where Ali was taken to Jinnah Hospital by an ambulance, during which he succumbed to his injuries,” the complainant quoted Qasim as saying.

The complainant further stated that upon receiving the information, he reached Jinnah Hospital and saw the body of his cousin in the emergency. “My claim is that Daniyal Nazeer Mir Bahar shot and killed my cousin Ali Kerio,” reads the FIR.
