ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) could not post Form-47 on its website concerning 22 NA constituencies till late Friday night.
Provisional results of as many as 243 NA constituencies have been displayed on the Election Commission’s website, whereas polling was postponed in NA-8, owing to the death of a contesting candidate. Of these constituencies, of which the result is awaited, 14 belong to Balochistan while Form-47 (containing poll results) of only two constituencies has been uploaded on its website.
From constituency NA-264, Quetta-III, PPP’s Mir Jamal Raisani returned by receiving 10,678 votes and his closest rival was veteran politician BNP-Mengal President Akhtar Mengal, who pocketed 9,929 votes. Maulana Fazlur Rehman has secured 52,429 votes and the runner-up Khushal Khan Kakar, who is the son of late ex-senator Usman Khan Kakar, got 31,436 votes from NA-265 Pishin. Interestingly, the name of Kakar’s party is mentioned as the ‘winner’ on the ECP website. The name of every winning candidate’s party is written on the green box, which contains Form-47.
“Some delay was caused when mobile service was suspended and the presiding officers had to drop Form-45 by hand to the returning officer. Otherwise, the election management was and is working fine,” a senior ECP official said, when asked why results of all the constituencies could not be issued so far.
