Pervez Khattak, sons suffer defeat
NOWSHERA: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed independent candidates emerged victorious in two national and five provincial assembly seats.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Pervez Khattak, who had claimed to become the next chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, faced a humiliating defeat at the hands of the PTI-backed independent candidates.
Pervez Khattak contested the election for NA-33 and PK-87 and PK-88, but could not win any seat. Similarly, his son-in-law Dr Imran Khattak and two sons Ismail Khattak and Ibrahim Khattak also suffered the same fate. Awami National Party (ANP) leader Mian Iftikhar Hussain, who was running for PK-89, also lost the election. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz KP spokesperson Ikhtiar Wali also faced defeat on PK-88.
On NA-33 Nowshera-I, PTI-backed independent candidate Shah Ahad polled 93,429 votes and emerged victorious while PTIP’s Pervez Khattak trailed behind with 26,574 votes.
On NA-34 Nowshera-II, PTI backed independent candidate Zulfiqar Ali received 95,652 votes and was declared successful while his rival Imran Khan of PTIP got 32,698 votes.
On PK-85 Nowshera-I, PTI-backed independent candidate Zar Alam got 32,075 while his rival Hamid Ali Khan of ANP polled 11,056 votes.
On PK-86 Nowshera-II, PTI-backed independent candidate Idrees Khattak got 38092 while his rival candidate Masood Abbas Khattak of ANP 12,973 obtained.
On PK-87 Nowshera-III, PTI-backed independent candidate Main Khaliq-ur-Rahman got 44,762 votes while his rival Pervez Khattak bagged 18,176.
On PK-88 Nowshera-IV, PTI-backed independent candidate Mian Umar Kakakhel polled 38,384 votes while his rival Ahad Khan Khattak of JUIF got 12,071.
On PK-89 Nowshera-V, PTI-backed independent candidate Ashfaq Ahmad Khan polled 30,416 votes while his rival candidate Mian Iftikhar Hussain of ANP received 15,630.
