Fazl, Kundi cast votes in DI Khan

He directed the police personnel to remain alert for stringent security to ensure a peaceful environment for holding free, fair and transparent elections

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Polling for the national and provincial assembly seats in various constituencies was held in a peaceful manner and no untoward incident happened till filing this report.

Almost all the political leaders and candidates cast their votes in their respective polling stations.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman cast his votes for the national and provincial assemblies in a polling station in his native town Abdulkhel while Pakistan Peoples Party leader Faisal Karim Kundi in Kokar, JUIF leader kafil Ahmad Nizami in Dewala, Malik Qayyum Hissam in Zafarabad and others cast their votes their respective polling stations.

Polling agents of various political parties and independent candidates had established reception camps to guide the voters but this time the turnout was low as compared to previous elections. Police personnel were performing security duty.

The suspension of mobile phone networks caused great hardships to the voters, polling agents, candidates and general public due to which making contact with near and dear ones in any emergency could not be made despite hectic efforts.

District Police Officer Abdul Rauf Babar Qaisrani along with police officials inspected security arrangements during their visit to various polling stations in the district.

He directed the police personnel to remain alert for stringent security to ensure a peaceful environment for holding free, fair and transparent elections.

The DPO later also visited the control room established at Police Lines for monitoring the security arrangements during the polling process.
