MINGORA: A local leader of the Awami National Party on Tuesday accused the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader and candidate for PK-5 Amir Muqam and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl candidate Sanaullah Khan of pre-poll rigging and asked the relevant authorities to take action against them.
Speaking at a press conference, ANP local leader Mian Iqbal Hussain advocate along with other party activists alleged that Amir Muqam had stolen electricity transformers, poles, gas and water pipes when he was advisor to the prime minister in the Pakistan Democratic Movement government.
He said that the candidate was now distributing the poles, transformers and gas pipes among the people of his constituency in return for their votes.
The Awami National Party leader also alleged that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl candidate Sanaullah was also involved in pre-poll rigging and digging water wells, constructing roads and streets in the constituency but the Monitoring Cell of Election Commission of Pakistan had become a silent spectator.
He appealed to the Supreme Court of Pakistan and ECP to take notice of pre-poll rigging going on in PK-5 or else they would launch a protest movement against the practice.
