Nawaz says Pakistan to become Asian Tiger
While the elections are scheduled for the 8, there is already a feel for a celebration today, he declared
KASUR: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) Quaid and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif said on Tuesday had his government not been ousted, the country would have been on the trajectory of progress, asserting that fraudsters should not be allowed to return to power as they have brought disgrace to Pakistan.
“If my government had not been dislodged, no youth would have been left unemployed. Everyone would have had a dignified job. I say this with confidence there would have been no unemployment had Nawaz Sharif’s tenure continued,” he said while addressing a rally in Kasur on the last day of the election campaign across the country.
The PMLN supreme leader outlined plans for Pakistan’s future including providing solar panels to farmers, laptops to youth and vocational training alongside employment opportunities. Nawaz criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government’s failures alleging that promises of millions of houses, jobs and dams never materialised, leading to enormous losses for the country. “We have faced many setbacks, but we must overcome them to join the race to progress and become Asian Tiger again. During my tenure, Pakistan had prospered. We were busy ending load-shedding, constructing motorways, providing cheap gas and electricity to people. We were eradicating terrorism and facilitating farmers whereas they (PTI) were busy staging sit-ins sabotaging development.” While the elections are scheduled for the 8, there is already a feel for a celebration today, he declared.
Addressing next, Maryam Nawaz said she was ready to move on for the country’s sake, urging the PTI youth to bury the hatchet of hatred in politics. Narrating the victimisation of Nawaz Sharif and herself, she said: “We faced mudslinging but when decisions were made against them [PTI leadership], we did not criticise them. I ask the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf youth languishing in jails to bury the politics of hatred.”
Shehbaz Sharif said when Nawaz Sharif was ousted from power, he never described the army chief as Mir Jafar or Mir Sadiq. Nawaz Sharif is the only one who undertook development projects across Pakistan. Speaking about the performance of the Pakistan Peoples Party in Sindh, he said despite their claims to transform Karachi into Lahore, they failed to undertake development works in Karachi.
