Safe delivery of polling material completed: IG

LAHORE : Inspector General Police Punjab (IGP) Dr Usman Anwar has said safe delivery of polling material under police supervision has been completed. Dr Usman Anwar presided over a video link meeting at the Central Police Office to review the election security arrangements, in which RPOs, CPOs, DPOs of different regions and districts participated. He said out of 49 thousand 956 polling stations, additional personnel will be deployed at 5,577 highly sensitive polling stations.

He said that the process of installation of more than 29 thousand modern cameras for election monitoring is being completed rapidly. Indiscriminate actions are being taken for violations of the Election Code of Conduct, Section 144, weapons display and air firing. He said police teams are on high alert at the inter-provincial border posts to keep an vigilant eye on anti-national and evil elements and no miscreants, terrorist elements or dangerous criminals will be allowed to enter.

Over Rs13 lakh for cops’ treatment

IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has released funds of more than Rs13 lakh for the treatment of police officials belonging to different districts. As per details, Constable Amjad Baig of Gujrat was given Rs5 lakh for the treatment of brain tumor. CTD Sargodha Constable Tufail Ahmed Khan was given Rs250,000 for the treatment of his wife. Constable Ilyas Khan of Lahore was given Rs2 lakh for the treatment of his knee. ASI Ghulam Qasim of PTC Multan was given Rs2 lakh for medical expenses. Constable Salman Yousaf of Okara was given Rs one lakh for the treatment of cancer, Rawalpindi sub-inspector Ch Bashir Ahmed was given Rs70,000 for the treatment of his wife's kidneys.
