461 gas connections cut, Rs6.63m fine imposed

In Peshawar and Karak, company disconnected 130 connections on account of direct use of gas and imposed Rs 4.14 million fines in gas theft cases

LAHORE: The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) on Monday continued raids in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad, disconnecting 461 connections and imposing Rs 6.63 million fines.

In Lahore, a regional team disconnected 20 connections for illegal use of gas while another nine for use of compressor. In Rawalpindi, a team disconnected 97 connections for illegal use of gas while another five for use of compressor and Rs 0.42 million fines were imposed in gas theft cases. The gas utility team also lodged one FIR in a gas theft case. In Multan, one connection was cut for illegal use of gas while another 26 for use of compressor. Rs 0.04 million fines were imposed in gas theft cases.

In Peshawar and Karak, the company disconnected 130 connections on account of direct use of gas and imposed Rs 4.14 million fines in gas theft cases. The company lodged 10 FIRs against gas pilferers. A team in Mardan disconnected eight connections for illegal use of gas and lodged one FIR.

In Sahiwal, six connections were disconnected for use of compressor. In Sheikhupura, 88 connections were disconnected for illegal use of gas while another one for use of compressor and Rs 1.8 million fines were imposed. A regional team in Bahawalpur disconnected 44 connections for illegal use of gas and another 15 for use of compressor and imposed a fine of Rs 0.14 million on gas pilferers. In Faisalabad, a team disconnected six connections for illegal use of gas and five for use of compressor and imposed a fine of Rs 0.09 million in gas theft cases.
