Official summons PTI candidate for giant panaflex

MANSEHRA: The District Monitoring Officer (DMO) appointed by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to check election violations has summoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) - backed national assembly’s contender Saleem Imran Swati and a principal to his court for affixing giant panaflex on a school building. “You are directed to appear in the undersigned court for violation of Election Act 217’s section 234(3) on Monday (today), or else your case will be referred to the ECP for disqualification,” DMO Mohammad Sohail, said in a notice issued here on Sunday.

The order, which is directly addressed to Imran Saleem Swati, the PTI-backed contender in NA-14 Mansehra-I, said he had affixed giant panaflexs and banners on Frontier Institute of Modern Sciences building which violates the Para-23 of the Code of Conduct enacted by the ECP for the Feb-8 general elections.

“You have repeatedly been warned to do away with such violations of affixing giant panaflexs, banners and other materials, but to no avail. “You are directed to appear at the office of the undersigned on Feb 5, 2024, or else your case will be referred to the ECP for your disqualification,” said the notice.

The notice pointed out under Para-23 of the Code of Conduct, a poster’s size should not exceed 18 inches multiplied by 23 inches, handbills, pamphlets and leaflets 18 multiplied by 6 inches, banners by 3 multiplied by 9 feet and portrait size should not exceed to 2 multiplied by 3 feet.

Meanwhile, DMO has also served the principal of the Frontier Institute of Modern Sciences with the same sort of notice and directed him to appear at his office on the same date to clarify his position else the case would be referred to the educational board concerned for cancellation of registration.
