PTI to hold intra-party polls on Feb 5
Detailed procedure of election has been explained in Election Rules 2020, which is available on PTI website and Raabta App
ISLAMABAD: Raoof Hasan, who was appointed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s federal chief election commissioner a day earlier, on Thursday issued the schedule for intra-party election, fixing February 5 for the poll process.
The PTI federal election commissioner issued the election schedule for intra-party elections of PTI to elect the chairman, central and provincial organisations and said all duly registered PTI members would be able to cast their votes in favour of their desired panels or candidates for the slot of chairman at different designated venues across Pakistan or remotely through secure Raabta App IPE Module.
All members registered till January 31, 2024, will be allowed to vote while the details of all the contesting panels in the intra-party election will be advertised on Insaf.pk and Raabta App. The detailed procedure of election has been explained in the Election Rules 2020, which is available on the PTI website and Raabta App.
Polling will be conducted from 10 am to 4 pm on Monday (February 5, 2024). Election venues and the date of the Appellate Tribunals was to be announced on February 1, 2024. Nomination forms can be collected from the Central Secretariat and downloaded from Insaf.pk from 1st to 2nd of February 2024.
The last date and time for submission of nomination forms at Central Secretariat and provincial secretariats physically or digitally through email at raabta@insaf.pk. will be February 2, 2024 (till 10 pm).
Scrutiny of nomination papers of intra-party election candidates will take place on February 3, from 10am to 2 pm. In case of rejection of the nomination forms, the deadline for submission of objections will be till 3 February 2024 (10 pm). The final lists of all contesting panels in the intra-party election will be published at insaf.pk on February 4 (at 4 pm). The results of the intra-party election will be officially announced on Tuesday (February 6).
Separately, Raoof Hasan, who is also PTI’s central information secretary, said that the popularity of the PTI and its chairman-for-life Imran Khan were increasing with each passing day despite facing all the ‘state fascism and coercions’ that further frustrated the elements who were hell-bent on dismantling the PTI and wipe out PTI founder from the political scene altogether.
Talking to the media, he added that the PTI, its leaders and workers were being subjected to the ‘worst state operation and suppression’ but all these brutal and coercive measures were proving counter-productive because all these adversarial steps further purified, organised and strengthened the party.
Raoof Hasan expressed optimism that the PTI and its chairman-for-life would successfully sail through all these hardships and the people would bring him to power with thumping majority.
He stated that the “controversial” rulings against Imran Khan in cipher and Thoshakhana cases by special courts were “premeditated, orchestrated and pre-decided and were a travesty of justice”.
He pointed out that the decisions were given in a hasty manner sans following any due legal and lawful procedure, reflecting visible frustration among the elements since all their draconian steps to crush the PTI and to remove Khan from the political landscape proved otherwise.
