P@SHA gets observer status
Digital Cooperation Organization is multilateral organization that aims to foster digital economy for its members
LAHORE: Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA), the representative body of the country's IT sector, has been granted observer status at the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), a global platform for digital collaboration.
P@SHA chairman Muhammad Zohaib Khan said the recognition was a significant achievement for Pakistan's IT and IT-enabled Services (ITeS) exports, as P@SHA became one of the only 33 observers of DCO worldwide.
The DCO, whose members include Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Jordan, is a multilateral organization that aims to foster digital economy for all its members by promoting sustainable and inclusive growth and facilitating cooperation in addressing the challenges of the digital era.
Khan said the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and the caretaker minister for IT & telecom, Dr. Umar Saif, had enabled the private sector to attract investments, form joint ventures and create digital partnerships with global players.
He added that Pakistan was emerging as the next big tech destination, thanks to the efforts of Dr. Saif, who had engaged the private sector in his outreach initiatives at various international forums in the IT and tech landscape.
Khan also highlighted the potential of the Gulf region, where Pakistan enjoys close ties with its affluent and brotherly countries, as a lucrative market for Pakistan's IT services, as the region undergoes the biggest economic and digital transformation of the world.
