667 gas connections cut, Rs 29.45m fine imposed

LAHORE: The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) on Tuesday continued raids in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad, disconnecting 667 connections and imposing Rs 29.45 million fines.

In Lahore, according to the gas utility spokesperson, a regional team disconnected 18 connections for illegal use of gas while another eight for use of compressor. It imposed a fine of Rs 0.16 million in gas theft cases. In Rawalpindi, a team disconnected 111 connections for illegal use of gas while another two for use of compressor. In Multan, three connections were disconnected for illegal use of gas while another 64 for use of compressor. In Peshawar and Karak, the company disconnected 280 connections on account of direct use of gas. It lodged 18 FIRs against gas pilferers. A team in Mardan disconnected 10 connections for illegal use of gas and imposed a fine of Rs 0.06 million in gas theft cases.

In Sahiwal, one connection was disconnected for illegal use of gas while another eight for use of compressor and one FIR was lodged in gas theft cases. In Sheikhupura, 45 connections were disconnected for illegal use of gas while another 14 for use of compressor. A regional team in Bahawalpur disconnected 54 connections for illegal use of gas and another 33 for use of compressor. It imposed a fine of Rs 0.41 million on gas pilferers. In Faisalabad, a team disconnected five connections for illegal use of gas while another 11 for use of compressor and imposed a fine of Rs 0.14 million in gas theft cases.
