SIFC apex committee to meet on February 2
Progress regarding facilities to investors, new investments and investment agreements with friendly countries will also be discussed in meeting
ISLAMABAD: An important meeting of the Apex Committee of Special Investment Facilitation Council has been convened on February 2.
The Army Chief, Chief Ministers and Federal Ministers will attend the meeting. Decisions of the SIFC Executive Committee will be ratified in it. Progress regarding facilities to investors, new investments and investment agreements with friendly countries will also be discussed in the meeting. Invitations have been sent to 56 participants to attend the meeting. The four chief secretaries, State Bank of Pakistan governor, Wapda chairman, Nadra chairman and FBR officials will participate in the meeting. A 24-point agenda of the meeting has also been released.
In the meeting, a detailed briefing will be given on 24 departments, institutions and ministries. A briefing will also be given on the restructuring of FBR, progress report on investment agreements with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Kuwait. A briefing will be given on electricity theft, contracts for alternative sources of energy and DISCOs management boards. Circular debt, privatization of RLNG power plants, Iran gas pipeline, new LNG supply policy for new domestic consumers, audit report of the Geological Survey of Pakistan including the Reko Diq project will also be discussed.
A report will be presented on the insurance sector by a French company, a report on e-employment, National Space Policy will also be presented. The Ministry of Law will give a briefing on the appointment of investment ombudsman. A decision will be taken to outsource PTDC buildings in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Minister for Privatization Fawad Hasan Fawad will present a report on the privatization of PIA. In the railway sector, a report will be presented on the cooperation of Russian and Dubai governments, and a report will be presented on the issues related to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Port Qasim Authority.
